Meet SODEVCO’s senior management team
Julian Setian, Founder and Chairman
Julian Setian has worked as a senior executive in the commercial and government service sectors for more than 20 years. He has launched many successful business ventures in petroleum logistics and international commodity trading media analysis, and has served on the boards of multiple joint ventures in the United States and overseas. Mr. Setian earned a BA in Political Science from Columbia University and sits on the boards of a number of non-‐profit organizations.
Rob Baker, Managing Director
Rob Baker is responsible for management of all SODEVCO business activities. He focuses on overseeing and promoting growth, facilitating strong customer relationships and developing new lines of business. Previously, Mr. Baker was the Director of Strategic Initiatives for SOS International, LLC. Prior to that, he achieved the rank of major general in the United States Army, before retiring in September 2013. He earned a BS in Economics from the United States Military Academy, a MS in Management from Central Michigan University and a MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
Emily Scott King, Senior Geologist & Technical Advisor
Mrs. King is the Founder and CEO of Global Venture Consulting, a mining and natural resource consulting firm specializing in mineral exploration in developing markets throughout the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Prior to
forming Global Ventures, she served as director of Natural Resources for the U.S. Department of Defense Task Force for Business and Stability Operations.
In this capacity she designed and directed mineral exploration teams to develop and promote Afghanistan’s rich mineral resources. She completed 27 ground and remote sensing surveys on a variety of minerals throughout Afghanistan.
Mrs. King earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology and Earth Sciences, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Government, from Bowdoin College. She is also the author of several scientific publications including: “A Major Light Rare – Earth Element Resource in the Khannneshin Carbonatite Complex,” “Southern Afghanistan; Summary of the Kundalan Copper and Gold Area of Interest,” and a "Summary of the Zarkashan Copper and Gold Area of Interest.”
Johan Coetsee, Operations Manager
Johan studied metallurgical engineering in Pretoria South Africa. He has twenty three years’ experience in mineral processing and has worked in a number of African countries establishing new mines. Johan has worked with gold, PGM, chrome, fluorspar, copper, tantalite, tin, coal, iron ore and a number of gem stones. He gained experience in all the activities in the mining industry from exploration to the financial and safety aspects of establishing and running of a mine. He commissioned more than ten mineral processing facilities and loves the exhilaration of months of work coming together in a final saleable product being produced. Johan is always ready to take on a challenge.
Roberto Hernandez, Business Operations Analyst
Robert Hernandez is responsible for managing SODEVCO’s day-to-day financial, procurement and international shipping requirements. With over 12 years of experience in the financial sector, Robert brings a wealth of knowledge and ‘best business practices’ to SODEVCO’s financial and procurement activities. Prior to joining SODEVCO, Robert was a finance professional with several multinational corporations including Wartsila, HBO, World Fuel Services, and Visa. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with a double major in business management and international business at Florida International University; and subsequently earned his MBA in Finance from Nova Southeastern University.
